Dean Calvert's smart carMicrosoft Gold Certified Partner Calvert Technologies has invested in “greening” its operations by buying a Mercedes smart car to reduce carbon emissions produced by its staff making service calls.

Calvert has purchased the Mercedes smart fourtwo coupe, powered by a new micro hybrid drive (mhd). The $25,000 car is driven by Calvert’s field technicians, who attend client sites to install new equipment and address issues that cannot be resolved remotely

Managing director Dean Calvert said the new car handled very well. “The decision to buy the smart car was driven by a beautiful blend of pragmatism and idealism,” he said.

Dean CalvertMicrosoft has invited Australian small business software guru Dean Calvert to its Seattle headquarters to contribute to a future products planning session next month.

Adelaide-based Calvert is the only Australian Small Business Server specialist summoned to Microsoft’s Redmond campus for its Most Valued Professional Conference.

Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer will present at the March 1-4 event, which is expected to attract about 1000 delegates. During the conference, attendees will learn about the latest product innovations from Microsoft and contribute suggestions for future product directions.

Australian small business IT specialist Calvert Technologies has continued its growth surge with the appointment of globally-trained technical engineer Puneet Awasthi to its team.

Calvert Technologies is an Adelaide-based company that specialises in providing IT support and consultancy services to small businesses. The Microsoft Gold Certified Partner, which focuses on providing quality solutions that don’t “break the bank”, is currently experiencing record demand.

With a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Delhi University in India, Puneet has built up an extensive track record in IT infrastructure management and IT infrastructure support in the seven years since he graduated.

Puneet’s most recent assignment involved working as a contracted Microsoft Server and Network Engineer on a major Active Directory migration project for South Australia’s Department of Families and Communities.

Calvert Technologies managing director Dean Calvert Adelaide-based Calvert Technologies has boosted recruitment and secured Gold Partner status from Microsoft by meeting demand for new technology from SA's small business sector.

Gold Certified Partnership represents the highest level of competence and expertise with Microsoft technologies, offering the closest working relationship with Microsoft.

Calvert's managing director Dean Calvert already holds Microsoft's Most Valued Professional status because of his expertise in deploying and managing technology systems for small businesses. He is a regular speaker on the subject at Microsoft events in Australia and in the US.

Since the start of the year, Adelaide-based Calvert has recruited three new staff members to meet demand from businesses, public sector agencies and community organisations throughout South Australia. The company now has a head count of seven.

Dean Calvert said he was expecting demand to continue increasing, even if the economy began to slow down. "As competition gets tougher, businesses typically seek to get more bang for their bucks of investment," he said.
